Umomi is an app that encourages cultures of community and inclusivity through the love of food. Umomi takes users on a journey of culinary discovery, from cooking alongside a step-by-step guide, to receiving postcards from the country they’ve cooked from, and meeting a character personifying the dish they have made.

This prototype project was a submission for You Belong Here, UCI's 3-day designathon. Out of the 300+ participants, UMOMI won Most Creative Winner and Best Presentation & Story Telling Winner. Our team made the top 4 finalists!

The introduction of Umomi aims to provide a platform for individuals to experience new cultures and, most importantly, an opportunity to come together. Umomi is an app that encourages cultures of community and inclusivity through the love of food. Our community forum allows users to share stories, breaking down barriers. Umomi is the perfect recipe for a more compassionate, connected, and all-embracing world.

Meet our persona, Layla Phillip! As a full-time student, it's hard coming home tired and hungry after a long day of school and having to cook a meal every day.
